It is always Chinnasamy who arranges the meetings. He wants me to accompany. We took our DGM also with us. Once when we were discussing on financing Clusters, with Mr Velu, in his room in MSME Institute, he introduced to us a man from the tribal community of Paliyars in Jawat hills. He gave our DGM a sample of "herbal sambrani" made by the Paliyars. The marketing inputs were being given by MSME institute. Our DGM wanted us to find out some way to finance these Paliyars and arrange a meeting before our MD retires.
In the meantime we thought of going to Directorate of Tribal Welfare, Govt of Tamil nadu, (chepauk (near Marina Drive). We made a request to AGM II for his car, through our AGM(O&R). He allowed but warned not to ask for his car hereafter. That we gave a few calendars to Mr.Giridar's PA. Mr.Giridhar is the Director of Tribal Welfare. He is from Indian Forest Service and had been DFO in various places. But we could not meet him.
We returned after taking 'pure milk' from Aavin milk parlour in that building.
On 28th we got appointment to meet with Mr.Giridhar. We decided to go in hired taxi. Chinnasamy called Sumathi travels and arranged a car. They arrange car for all our dignataries. The driver was a very good person known for his good manners.
We were there by 2.30 p.m.. We were immediately allowed inside. Mr.Giridhar IFS was sitting on a computer doing some urgent work. He was not having any idea of why we were there. I told him that we wanted to have a programme for empowering the tribals through Entrepreneur Dev.Prog. and also helping them banking through a BC.
The Director then told us of various new initiatives and he wanted us to join him. He told that he disliked other bankers because they came to him just for deposits. He gave SBI Rs. 2 crores deposit he said. But he wanted Mr.Chinnasamy to be their consultant because of his accreditance as a Trainer. He told that he will talk to Chinnasamy rather and he took Chinnasamy's card and said that my card - he is keeping aside and would use only if necessary ; he seemed guilty and corrected that he took chinnasamy's card because he is a specialist, for that I told that it was not a problem because, we work as a team. The Director told that recently he took over all tribal schools to his department and wants to improve the schools. He also told that Chief Minister has sanctioned Rs.50 cr for tribal ecotourism. He wanted us to be associated with Paliyars on the other side of Jawad Hills. The Don Bosco was associated with the development of Paliyars (may be they would have converted entire tribals there) in one side of Jawad Hills. There is another settlement on the other side. Now there is an NGO managed by TVS. This is partnered by some corporates and banks like SBI, Canara Bank, and some Pvt sector banks also. The Director said that with the change of Companies Act to iinclude CSR has prompted many corporates to come to him.

But the indifferent enthusiasm shown by many Branch Managers, AGMs keeps us from jumping. Let us see.
